Housed in the buildings and grounds of an original Prisoner of War camp

A visit to our multi-award winning museum will transport you back to wartime Britain. Experience the sights, sounds and even the smells of life on both the Home Front and the Front Line, in 26 exhibition huts which contain life size reconstructions and tableaux. Catering and picnic facilities; gift shop; 1940s Music Puppet Show (free); childrens’ adventure playground and free car parking all available. Allow 4 hours for a full visit. It’s been 30 years since we opened our gates to the public as a museum in 1987. Utilising the buildings and grounds of an original World War Two Prisoner of War camp, it was developed into a museum by local businessman Stan Johnson.
