Treasurer's House is not as it appears
Tucked behind York Minster, Treasurer’s House is not as it first appears. In 1897, Frank Green (the grandson of a wealthy industrialist) bought the property and created an opulent show home. He was passionate about history and indulged this by building a large collection of fine antiques, art and furniture. The award-winning garden is an oasis of calm, to relax in and enjoy unrivalled views of York Minster. The garden and Below Stairs Café are free to enter. Treasurer's House is home to one of York's most famous ghost stories. Visitors to the house are welcome to make a stop in the exhibition room to find out a little more about York’s most famous ghost story.
