We recently travelled to York for a few days away and bought a 2 day pass. When your buy the pass you select the month you want to use it... read more and it only becomes valid when it is first used. My advice would be to look at what you want to do, make notes on availability and then book depending on what you can fit in when. We managed most of the more expensive attractions apart from the river cruise which was cancelled due to high winds and water levels. Saved us quite a bit of money for a family of 3, plus we managed a few extra places that we hadn't booked. Definitely worth the price.
Made good use of York pass considering some attractions closed. Recommend research what's open at this time of year as disappointing how many attractions are closed, You also need to... read more book direct with some venues. Managed to visit Yorvik centre, the York dungeon, Fairfax house, Merchant hall, Cocoa works, York Minster, Van Gogh immersive experience, Hop on hop off bus (hardly used) finished off by lovely pizza in Ask Italia (in a fab room) Over £200.00 entrance fees/meal overall Cost of passes £117.00 Best experience the Van Gogh. the Dungeons and Yorvik centre. Unable to go on river trip due to bad weather and high tide. Went to Army museum on our 2nd day only to read note on door that it was closed for filming.
I honestly cannot recommend this enough. We saved at least £60 per person with this pass and it kept us so busy! Along with attractions, you get a free pizza/pasta... read more at Ask Italian, a 24 hour hop on and off tour, and an hour canal cruise. Fantastic value for money!!
I will absolutely be using this again next time we are back!
The assistance from the lady that gave us the York pass was very good. If not for guidance and help we would have missed some of the attractions we wanted... read more to see.
We managed to visit 6 attractions, of which Jorvik and the minster tour stood out.
Unfortunately, a couple of the attractions advertised as being included with the pass were no longer part of the pass. I particular the chocolate experience.
Overall, worth the money, but what I would say is... book the attractions online that you really want to see to avoid being unable to book. Most attractions are very popular and booked up very quickly.
We bought a 3 day pass on sale and whilst we didn’t get to visit any of the attractions outside of York city, we definitely saved a lot compared to... read more purchasing individual attraction tickets plus Jorvik tickets are valid for 12 months so you can return for free. We planned about 10 days in advance and booked all the attractions you can pre-book - some of them you have to turn up eg City Sightseeing Bus and River Cruise but we had no problem getting on both of those. We also decided to visit the Van Gough Immersion experience on the spur of the moment and got in straight away - amazing experience highly recommend. We covered 10 city centre attractions over about 48 hours plus free lunch at Ask Italian. Some of the attractions we were glad we didn’t pay full price as whilst they were good their full price was quite expensive. We really enjoyed our visit to York and I can’t recommend the pass enough especially if you want to pack in as much sightseeing as you can. If driving I also recommend the York Commuter car park next to the railway museum which is much cheaper than NCP.
At the moment most attractions needs to be booked in advance, this can be done online or via email to the attractions.
If you plan your visit and get... read more organised it’s such great value, it’s a logistical challenge but well worth a few hours planning before hand.
Me and my 10 year old daughter had a 2 day pass and managed to save a small fortune visiting many attractions including Jorvik centre, York Dungeons, The City Bus, City Cruise, Van Gough immersive experience, York Chocolate Story and Clifford Tower. Keeping my daughter entertained non-stop for 48hrs.
I had a problem pre booking one of the attractions but Elaine from York Pass was able to resolve this quickly, outstanding service!
Would definitely use again!
We were already visiting friends in the city so decided to arrive a day early and make use of a York pass to cover visiting some of the attractions we'd... read more otherwise not pay separately for.
The main consideration with the post-distancing measures is needing to pre-book entry times with most (but not all!) attractions, and navigating their respective websites to A) find out whether booking is necessary for York pass holders, and B) how to book if you have a York pass - this was frustratingly unclear in many instances. It also causes some "waiting around" between entry bookings as it was difficult to estimate how much time we'd need to enjoy each venue without feeling pressured to move on to the next one. This means you can do fewer things than you could normally cram into 24h and your itinerary is less whimsical for being able to show up and decide on the spot.
The good thing about the current limited number of open attractions is that we felt like we could do quite a large proportion of them in the allotted 24h, then perhaps come again in future to do different ones once they've reopened.
We did: Clifford's tower, cruise, Ask, Dig, Van Gogh, Barley Hall, & bus tour with two kids under 9.
Note on distancing measures: Mixed experience on whether venues or particular staff are sufficiently prepared & briefed but overall we felt sufficiently protected.
Brought a two day York Pass, which is good value if you do at least 3 places a day. The Hop On Hop Off bus is only for 24 hrs... read more from when you activate the ticket on a bus, so not 48hrs as you'd expect?. The Brewery is totally closed which we only found out when we tried to find it? The little Land Train to the Railway Museum is only 1 way. The free Pizza is only between 3 & 5 o'clock. Everything else seemed to work okay.
